Installing Drupal In localhost

Hello everyone, welcome to tutorials. From today I’ve started new series on drupal. In this series, we learn how to install drupal in localhost, how to create drpual theme , how to install drupal theme, how to customize drupal theme and a lot of stuffs about drupal. Today is our first day. So, we are starting from scratch and we learn each & every points how to install drupal in localhost(local server). Lets start.

Drupal Installation

Drupal – is a very powerful CMS that is easy to use and configure. It require very little programming knowledge, but will still accomplish so much. If there is anyone that hasn’t used Drupal before, I would definitely recommend it, it is a major step up from WordPress.


Drupal is a complete CMS and it provide all functional files. Go to drupal website for downloading latest drupal installation files. Here is download link.


Currently drupal released 7.0 version. You can also download previous releases from download page. This website provide both zip and tar.gz format of installation files.


After download all files just unzip it. Go to your htdocs folder located in your local server. We create a folder name “drublogger”. Now paste all unzipped files in drublogger folder. Done? Great! you have successfully completed your first task.


Open a browser and write url like “http://localhost/drublogger”. Please follow the example of image.

If you successfully complete step-3 then, you can view the following image in your browser.

Find it? Great. Here you can see 2 radio button like standard and minimal. Click standard radio button (by default it selected standard radio button). Now click “save and continue” button. Step-4 done.


While you successfully completed step 4 then you find following screen in your browser. Drupal have multiple language support features. Initially it provide only english language feature. We will learn how to install multiple language in drupal in our upcoming tutorials. 🙂

Now, click “Save and continue” button and go for next step.

Step- 6:

In step 6, you have to provide database configuration information. I hope, all of you knows very well about how to create new database. Drupal support mysql, mariaDB and SQLite Database types. So, if you feel compfort in SQLite then, you can easily integrate drupal with your DB. In our tutorial section, we used MySQL as our database system.

Great! Now you have to provide Database type, Database Name, Database Username, Database Password(If you set password in your Database, If there was no password in your DB then leave it blank), Advanced Features provide more setup functionalites, but they are not compulsary for setup Drupal. Provide all information properly then click save and continue.



If everything done successfully in step -6 then you can easily go for step-7. Just have a look in following image.


Wait for a while for installing all modules. It takes less than 1 min.


Wow, we are just at the end of installation process. If you have complete step 7 properly then you can view these screen in your web browser. Here you have to provide site name, site email address, admin passwords and corrosponding informations. Just provide valid informations. That’s it!
